Mary Review is a magazine of news and ideas written and produced entirely by women. Mary's mission is to bring parity to the wider journalistic conversation. Initially funded through Kickstarter, Mary has grown from print and online content to events and fundraisers supporting women's rights affected by our current political climate. In 2016, our website was selected for permanent inclusion in the Library of Congress Web Archives.
The name Mary Review comes from a reference to Virgina Woolf's essay A Room of One's Own, which argues for both a literal and physical presence for women writers in a tradition usually reserved for men. The dynamic identity uses the four letters in "Mary" to create a four-cornered space or "room". As design director, I designed the branding, produced the print piece and website, hired female illustrators, and created pitch decks and event collateral as needed.
